Brunch in the Sky: Union Bar and Grill, Minneapolis

Rooftop dining is a thing in Minneapolis. A BIG thing. When the winter snow clears and the sun peeks out from behind the clouds, you will find the good people of Minneapolis hightailing it to the nearest rooftop bar or restaurant. Warm weather in The Twin Cities doesn't show its face for long, so locals make sure to soak up as much time in the sun as they can during the city's short summer. 

There are a multitude of fantastic rooftop establishments in the city (Moto-i and Stella's Fish Cafe are two of my personal favorites) but Union Bar and Grill is the undisputed champ when it comes to rooftop dining in the Minneapolis. As if the amazing view wasn't enough, Union's rooftop menu (the indoor part of restaurant has a separate menu)  has an impressive brunch, complete with a DJ and $15 bottomless mimosas, in addition to eclectic dinner options that range from pork shank to poutine. The most impressive thing about Union though is that you can enjoy the rooftop year round thanks to the retractable roof. When the wintry weather rears its ugly head, the all-glass retractable roof encases the area so guests can enjoy a comfy temperature-controlled dining experience. Travel Tip: Union is one of the more popular restaurants in the city so be sure to make reservations ahead of time.
